When In Buffalo

After 6.5 hours of non stop coffee driven driving BEC arrived in Buffalo where it has been said that during certain moons the locals in fact transform into buffalos.  When exiting the car Buffalo welcomed us with 60 mph winds shoving us across the parking lot wielding luggage in every direction.  Many thanks need to go out to the Hampton Inn in downtown Buffalo for letting us check in early.  I still stand by my call to leave at 3AM.....Arriving this early surely gave us the edge when trying to fit in everything Buffalo had to offer.  After checking in and a quick nap we were ready to take on the city.  Wing after wing I still kept my eyes open for the areas best BEC.  I think it was friday night after the bar (Encore) when a fellow BEC member pointed out “The Spot”.  This would obviously be where breakfast the next day would happen.  After the night before this breakfast would be much needed.  Unaware that bottle service in Buffalo is only 80.00 we were pleasantly surprised and hurting saturday morning.  I don’t know about anyone else but I had no clue that at night Buffalo transforms into a slightly more aggressive Jersey Shore.  No matter the temperature these roof top clubs battle back and forth to have the loudest most ridiculous roof top dance party.  During the day we could barely find anyone on the streets, yet at night hordes of people mingled the streets in search of fist bumps and pizza.
Morning came and it was time to eat !!  Off to The Spot we went...which just so happened to be located 1 block from our hotel.  Entering The Spot one may think wow retro for buffalo, possibly even trendy.  With a staff of young hipster coffee grinders you might wonder if any would consider them self a true Buffalonian barista.  After a quick line and direct ordering we were off to wait for our fresh BEC’s to arrive.  This pick up process was a bit hectic and had many angry coffee goers looking for their iced lattes instantly.  Patience didn’t seem to be a part of Buffalo’s norm but then again it is still in NY so.......Ten minutes later we were delivered our first BEC of Buffalo.  This creation was unique and unexpected.  Who knew you could put cream cheese on a BEC ?!?!  At first I was slightly turned off but then after one bite realized exactly what they had going on.  With a slightly salty bite one soon enters the cream cheese zone.  This mix of herb cream cheese, salty pork, and hot melted provolone hit the spot.  The cream cheese almost cooled the sandwich down but only for a moment before the next section of the sandwich quickly interrupted the bite reminding us that this was a super BEC and had a meaty punch !!  After being incredibly doubtful I am happy to say Buffalo you passed the test.  With the help of “The Spot” you were able to prove to BEC that you are not just about wings and can in fact supply your visitors with one hell of a BEC.  I would be remiss if I didn’t mention that “The Spot” doesn’t just serve a great breakfast but also opens up into a ultra comfy couch lounge.  Full of old style couches, unique paintings, and victorian lamps this area allows for creative conversation, and quiet moments of blissful old time listening.
With breakfast over and time to fill it was once again time to hit the streets of Buffalo.  With eager enthusiasm we hit the pavement in search of not only local fair but a great tattoo artist as well.  We knew there were a lot of studios in the area but this search has to be a perfect match and meet all BEC criteria.  Simply nice, talented, good music and a gallery of high quality designs.  It was only after a short walk that we realized we found exactly the place we were looking for.  More low key and understated “Soul” Tattoo greeted us with professionalism, high enthusiasm, and the eye for creativity we were looking for.  The art on the walls was proof of their talent and determination for perfection and authenticity to their particular specialties.  It did not take us long to describe what we would like done.  Our artist was quick to draw up and propose his designs to our bodies.  Both bodies said yes....and we were ready to go.  Short moments of pain later BEC had been successfully tatted in Buffalo.  A beautiful lotus and Buffalo later we were wrapped up and on our way out to our next adventure (thanks “Soul”).  Again...When in Buffalo !!  Who’s next?
