BEC Visits Mike and Patty's

The last nice day before the arrival of hurricane Irene BEC decided to squeeze in one last breakfast before we have to batten down the hatches.  The decision was made and we were off to Mike and Patty’s in Boston’s Bay Village.  Upon arrival we were able to find a parking spot after less than a 2 minute search.  Surprising for this area of Boston but if you look around the corner from Mike and Patty’s, Tremont street is lined with meters and is usually quite desolate.
As soon as we rounded the corner we could smell the toast.  I instantly began picturing the menu I had seen online and started to think “I wonder which sandwich that could be”.  As we approached the front door I quickly noticed that Mike and Patty’s was way smaller than I expected.  But incredibly AWESOME!  As you enter the small, quaint shop you quickly realize this place not only has character, but heart as well.  Anyone who can manage to work this close to one another must have serious love and/or appreciation for their fellow cook.  With the walls lined with old pans, and ingredients, you could only picture in an old farmhouse, one quickly realizes that this place is unique.    I felt as though I was about to dine in a Nebraska corn farm’s kitchen and I loved it!!  With barely any seating and a line that never stopped you knew whatever you were waiting for was undoubtedly going to be good.
After a short wait, we were able to snag a great window seat and relax our legs a moment before the feast.  Our order consisted of a Fried Green Tomato sandwich, a Bacon Egg and Cheese Classic, and a Croque Madame.  With the space being so small you could tell exactly when they were cooking our meal, and at what stage it was at...this made for quite the anticipation.
It was here!!  And man did it look amazing.  Everything was plated impeccably and was piping hot.  BEC quickly began to dig in and realize this home cooked meal was something to cherish.  Not only did we see the effort, and heart that went into preparing the meal but we were also able to enjoy it within 10 ft of the kind people who created it.  It surely must give them some sort of pleasure to see so many delighted faces each day.  Bite after bite we became more and more full, and loved every second of it.
What a unique fun place to go.  Mike and Patty’s has amazing food, home style comfort, and a staff of incredibly patient and nice people who deliver on what they do best, FOOD!!  Thanks Mike and Patty’s for an amazing breakfast and a perfect Friday off.
